Jessica Francisca Colaço is an entrepreneur and TED fellow born and based in Nairobi, Kenya. She co-founded Brave Venture Labs based in Nairobi, London and San Francisco the end of 2015 with Ibanga Umanah and Daniele Orner-Ginor. She is the Chief Revenue Office at Brave which is a HR Tech. Brave helps with talent recruitment (sourcing + qualification) for growing companies, hiring in emerging markets. Our customers are social entrepreneurs and multinationals building products in or for Africa.
She was part of the founding team at the iHub in 2010 where she served in various leadership positions for more than 5 years. Jessica is a dynamic speaker and has featured on global platforms talking about her work in technology and entrepreneurship. She has spoken at SWSX in 2014 and 2015. She has also given guest lectures at Harvard in 2017 and 2018.
She is passionate about how ecosystems arise and evolve over time. She has built various communities in the last 10 years from developers, startups, corporates and investors. She is currently writing a book about her journey at iHub and how it all happened (The intentional serendipity of the tech ecosystem in Kenya)
She co-founded of WMIAfrica (Women Who Mentor and Innovate in Africa) in 2013 to help young women engineers and scientists connect with role models in different industries. She was part of the original founding team of AkiraChix in 2010. She is a bass guitarist, rides a classic motor bike (1982 BMW R65) in her spare time and is an upcoming golfer.
